Rhythm becomes pitch.
Move from slow, separate pulses to a continuous tone. Play notes in TONE, sweep the pulse rate in FREE, or tap out divisions in RHYTHM.
A beat becomes a note. A note becomes a texture.
Follow the space between them.
A touch-played synthesizer built around short bursts of sound. Shape the pulse, move the formants, and let your fingers take it somewhere new.
Pulsar is a custom instrument for Synthux Academy Touch2.

From a single, insistent beat
to a voice that seems to breathe.
Six ways to find your sound.
Move from slow, separate pulses to a continuous tone. Play notes in TONE, sweep the pulse rate in FREE, or tap out divisions in RHYTHM.
Bring in three formants for vowel-like, choral colours. Couple them to the pitch or let them float freely, each drifting through the stereo field.
Morph through waveforms from sine to noise. Change the envelope, add cycles to each burst, and fold the waveform into sharper territory.
Cut repeating gaps into the pulse train, trade bursts between left and right, or let chance decide. At higher rates, the gaps become part of the timbre.
Turn live audio into pulsarets, from rhythmic gates to pitched textures. Or capture a two-second sample and hear it through pulsar convolution.
Pad pressure shapes loudness and lifts the formant. Choose one of seven scales, change the root, or play over USB MIDI with aftertouch and clock sync.
Slow it down: hear each pulse.
Speed it up: hear a note.
The boundary is yours to explore.
Each short burst has space around it. You hear the repetition as a pattern of individual events.
A pulsaret is a short burst of sound followed by silence. Repetition rate sets the rhythm or pitch; burst duration sets the formant. Two controls, a surprisingly large territory.
A physical instrument for playing,
listening, and following a good accident.
Play scale notes, take direct control of pulse rate from 0.25 Hz to 2 kHz, or work in tempo-synced divisions. One switch changes the way you play.
Add a detuned second train and sub-octave weight in TONE. Shape it with a resonant low-pass filter, drive, chorus or ensemble, and ping-pong delay.
Connect through Daisy Seed’s USB port for notes, velocity, aftertouch, pitch bend, and parameter control. MIDI clock keeps RHYTHM in step.
TouchPulsar runs on Touch 2 by Synthux Academy, powered by Daisy Seed. The manual covers firmware installation, every control layer, scales, and the complete MIDI map.
